Saddlepath learning

چکیده
Saddlepath learning occurs when agents know the form but not the coefficients of the saddlepath relationship defining rational expectations equilibrium. Under saddlepath learning, we obtain a completely general relationship between determinacy and e-stability, and generalise Minimum State Variable results previously derived only under full information. When the system is determinate, we show that a learning process based on the saddlepath is always e-stable. When the system is indeterminate, we find there is a unique MSV solution that is iteratively e-stable. However, in this case there is a sunspot solution that is learnable as well. We conclude by demonstrating that our results hold for any information set. JEL Classification: C60, E00

New Keynesian Roots
The stability properties of a macromodel are determined by its characteristic roots. Conventional price level determinacy is achieved by imposing restrictions on policy rules so that the characteristic roots satisfy a saddlepath criterion. This paper shows how to choose arbitrary roots for the canonical New Keynesian macromodel using a simple forward-looking Taylor-type policy rule. We are able...
متن کاملSpatial Agglomeration Dynamics
This paper develops a model of economic growth and activity locating endogenously on a 3dimensional featureless global geography. The same economic forces influence simultaneously growth, convergence, and spatial agglomeration and clustering. Economic activity is not concentrated on discrete isolated points but instead a dynamically-fluctuating, smooth spatial distribution. Spatial inequality i...
متن کاملThe Shilnikov Saddle-Node Bifurcation in a Monetary Policy with Endogenous Time Preference
We improve the analysis made in Chang et al (2011), by exploring the possibilities for the raise of global indeterminacy via a Shilnikov saddle-node bifurcation on an invariant circle. This allows us to better understand the determinants for the emergence of endogenous fluctuations in a monetary policy model, and to explain the existence of irregular patterns. Hence, the economy may start at so...
متن کاملThe Impact of Cooperative Learning and Mobile Learning through Bluetooth Device on Vocabulary Learning of Iranian EFL Learners
Cooperative learning has been found to affect different aspects of language learning by many researchers (e.g., Kagan, 1995; Kagan, 1999; Kessler, 1992; McGroarty, 1993). Likewise, mobile assisted language learning (MALL) has revealed significant impacts on the improvement of different language skills and components (e.g., Comas-Quinn et al. 2009; Divitini & Chabert, 2009; Motallebzadeh & Ganja...

Background: Because of approaches to learning in every place and at any time, ubiquitous learning with knowledge of the context and framework, and due to the development of wireless technologies and sensors, the learning process has changed. Mobile learning and ubiquitous learning as models of e-learning that refer to the acquisition of knowledge, attitudes and skills through wireless technolog...
